This famous quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson describes the early days of Alpha Center and still holds very true today.
Prior to 1994, most people believed that the only way to separate or divorce was to hire divorce litigation attorneys to “protect” them and “fight” for their rights. People whose marriages were ending often rushed to find an aggressive attorney who they believed would score a “win” for them and a “loss” for their spouse.
As part of a general practice law firm, Keila M. Gilbert, Esquire observed how the divorce litigation attorneys were the only real winners and how badly the financial stress impacted their clients. When she went through her own divorce in the early 1990’s, she truly understood the deep pain and hardship of divorce. This led her to begin developing the Alpha Center path for separation and divorce.
In 1994, our founder gathered together an advisory group of professionals who were needed during divorce including attorneys, therapists, and financial experts. She also included lay people who had experienced divorce. She shared her vision with them and together they began to design the Alpha Center program for divorce mediation.
In 2006, after many years and thousands of divorce clients, Keila M. Gilbert saw the need for good resources to save marriages and also to assist with starting new lives after divorce. She formed a sister company, Alpha Resource Center, to address those important needs. The “Marriage Success” resources assist couples with improving and saving their marriage whenever possible. The “New Beginnings” resources help individuals make better decisions after divorce and make wiser choices about remarriage. A professional resource directory is provided to connect the many people who seek our advice to the best professionals to meet their needs.
Today, Alpha Center continues our founder’s dedication to preventing divorce when possible and giving divorcing families the best program available to meet their specific needs. Our professionals are all leaders in their individual fields who share the clear vision and values of our founder.
